Treatment with Botulinum Toxin (Botox) is one of the most used procedures in facial aesthetic medicine.

Its application is indicated to combat the signs of facial aging, specifically to attenuate the wrinkles that appear due to the activity of the muscles of facial expression, that is, those that appear between the eyebrows, the forehead, the corners of the lips or the eye contour.

The botulinum toxin infiltrated into the muscle manages to modulate its ability to contract, so that we correct those unaesthetic gestures that induce the formation of wrinkles.

Sometimes, and depending on the needs of the patient, the Botox treatment is combined with the infiltration of filler materials, especially hyaluronic acid.

However, with very low doses, expression wrinkles can be corrected in barcode, chin or gummy smile, among others. In addition, botulinum toxin is the treatment that best corrects platysmal bands, which are lines that are tightened vertically, like ropes, on the anterior face of the neck.

The areas that respond best to botulinum toxin treatment are the vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows, crow's feet and horizontal forehead lines.

However, with very low doses, expression wrinkles in the bar code, chin or gummy smile, among others, can be corrected. In addition, botulinum toxin is the treatment that best corrects platysmal bands, which are lines that tighten vertically, like ropes, on the front of the neck.

The duration of the botulinum toxin, in the first application, is six or eight months, but it can be extended up to a year if maintenance is carried out.

The treatment is performed in an outpatient clinic and can be applied at any time of the year.
